in theory, was exciting but unfortunately a pretty big FLOP
...IMHO...
The eyeshadows multi color pigments all blend together when swiped or brushed, and the color becomes muddy or typical at best.
I was most excited for the lipstick, Musky Amethyst. In the tube the color looked super fierce...it reminded me of "elegant goth". When applied, the color wasn't much more exciting than any generic, lightly pigmented burgundy lipstick. *I had to apply numerous coats to achieve the color in the photos and unfortunately, the color faded in minutes.
...Oh well...
Here are the three pieces I left the counter with...
Eyeshadows: Dark Indulgence and Faux Gold
Lipstick: Musky Amethyst
After literally 10 applications
Swatches
Musky Amethyst
DId you pick up anything from the new collection?
What are your thoughts on them?

try getting the eye shadow brush wet first. it's makes any eye shadow more pigmented.
ReplyDeleteOh well, I prefer you in reds. This colour isn't for you.
ReplyDeletethank you for the review!
ReplyDeletethe formula of most of the eyeshadows was so chalky, I couldn't even believe it!
did you try any of the blushes? they have a really nice coral that I'm dying to get ;)

I like the lipstick on you ! It seems like all colors suit you fine ! :)
ReplyDeleteI got the rose quartz MSF, because I have a nasty habit of collecting mineralize skin finishes. I also got the pink blush, feeling flush and 2 eye shadows- unsurpassable and hint of sapphire.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a pretty collection, but not out of this world. I do love the new blush formulation because it's more satin/matte than shimmery or glittery. I think the shimmer mineral blushes coupled with the MSFs is a lot of shimmer, so I'm liking the new formula. I also think this collection has some unique shadow colors that I haven't seen anywhere else (like unsurpassable) and worn dry, they aren't overly impressive. When worn wet, though, they are SO pretty! And now I'm rambling....
:)
Me too I'm in love with mac !
ReplyDeleteGreat lipstick
i love love love you, your style and your necklaces,of course...(but they are too price to me)
ReplyDeleteThe colors are pretty though :) If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can definitely return the items to MAC for a full refund.
ReplyDeleteI agree-mineralized shadows look so incredibly beautiful in the pan, but are they are usually so disappointing once swatched!
ReplyDeletegorgeous products! <3 M.A.C! xx
ReplyDeletethe lipstick is pretty on you, too bad it's so sheer
ReplyDeleteThis is the first collection in a long time that has me excited about MAC...I'm hunting it down tomorrow!
ReplyDeletethe eyeshadows always look so pretty but once swatch look dirty, i totally get what you mean! that lipstick looks fab on you though!

you're so gorgeous! :) and i heard the eyeshadows do look really gross and muddy swatched. the lipstick looks divine on you though! But 10 swipes is just not acceptable. Shame on MAC!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the pigments and lipstick being too sheer on Temptalia. This collection was disappointing. I hate mineral shadows from MAC, and I'm still left with the four from the Style Black collection. A lip liner like Mohagany or Burgundy might work under Musky Amethyst! I'm sure NYX has some good cheap shades that would look gorgeous with it. The ad photos really fooled people. It looked so nice and modern Hollywood.
ReplyDeletelove your nails. what nail polish are you wearing? how do you shape your nails so perfectly? video please:)
ReplyDeleteI agree. Semi-precious eye shadows did not impress me. Love your necklaces and bracelets.

ReplyDeletei love your nail color! would you mind telling us what it is? :) x
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely gorgeous lip color on you! Its different from all your bright reds and i love it
ReplyDeleteI got the MSF in Pink Crystal which is nice, but it's nothing to write home about. I'm pretty dissapointed this time around, especially with the eyeshadows. But that lipstick looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous and that lipstick color suits you really great!!

Hi! I've never commented before lol. But I LOVE your blog. Anyhoo. I agree completely with your opinion on the collection. I was so excited and was ready to go crazy (and I rarely, if ever buy makeup). But nothing caught my eye and I left empty handed. If a new collection item doesn't seem exemplary, I don't believe in wasting my money. Although if you're interested, I think you would appreciate the Giorgio Armani eyes to kill shadows. I bought two and absolutely love them. Totally worth the splurge.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! How do I follow using blogspot? <3 THX!
ReplyDeletelove the makeup! musky amethyst seems to be very wearable for all skin tones. the eyeshadows are gorgeous as well.
