CANDY COLOR FALL

Though my decor and fashion sense mostly gears towards a monochromatic theme, pops of color is how I add a bit more interest and dimension to my life.
I was recently contacted by Wrigley and given a challenge to see how I was inspired by their candy colors in my fall wardrobe.
Monochromatic basics with an occasional  pop of color is how I will be livening up my wardrobe this fall.

A GLIMPSE OF FALL

Today was the first day the sun took a
back seat and the allowed the
clouds and haze to stay for a bit.
...
Fall is may favorite season...
Primarily because it gives me a reason to layer
luxurious fabrics in an anything goes kinda way.
Much like last year, I can see my personal style continuing to  channel the relaxed "boyfriend" cut look.
Boyfriend blazers (with minor detail changes like leather arms and prominent shoulders, seen above), white oxfords and glammed out with statement chains and girly accessories.

BCBG leather sleeved blazer. BCBGeneration sleeveless oxford. HRH COLLECTION chain necklaces It's All the Rage and The Sheik. BCBGeneration Samurai shorts. Alexander Wang handbag. Missoni for Target socks. Tory Burch flats. Maybelline lipstick in Hooked on Pink.

FRESH

NEWNESS:
Some new "reading" material... ELLE Decor and Saks' Winter manuscript.
A new CD from my favorite time period.
(Why can't modern day be as glam as it was in the 20's?)
Gorgeously packaged Tom Ford lipstick in Blush Nude (Gifted).
A New chain design I am absolutely loving.
It effortlessly transforms any outfit into modern and chic.
Missoni for Target rain boots.
(Unfortunately Bao Bao got to the right toe even before the season started...huai zi! lol)

BATHROOM TOUR

With very little space in my bathroom, things can easily get out of control. To make sure my space stays as pretty as the things in it, I use unique "storage" to display favorite products I most often use. The generics...toothpaste and face wash get stored away.
My favorite nail polishes, luxe Panpuri scented candle, soap and decadent eye cream are all displayed on a silver tray.
Easily accessible for everyday use.
My essential tools: Hot Tools 1.5 inch barrel curling iron, Hanna ceramic flat iron and Hanna blow dryer

For additional storage, I installed a simple shelf purchased at Ikea where I roll hand towels and set vintage apothecary jars with cotton buds etc...
A small flea market find dish it perfect for holding jewelry I take off before getting ready for bed.
Another $5 flea market find... this small bench which once had a hideous orange cushion. I simply "reupholstered" it with a white terry cloth towel.
It's now used to neatly store rolled bath towels.

100 CALORIE PACKS ARE SO PASSE

Who knew such a classic-favorite desert could be deliciously
 made with so few calories?
134 to be exact
I love S'mores and though I don't have access to a campfire, blasting it in the microwave for a few seconds does the trick.
Ingredients:
Two graham cracker squares, one large marshmallow and two thinly sliced Hershey Kisses.
Cut the marshmallow in half and arrange it along with the crushed kisses on the cracker.
Microwave for about 25 seconds.
Plate and guiltlessly enjoy!

SPRINKLES AND SUCH

I haven't shared my recent flea market and other
random finds with you in while.
I've been accumulating photos and finally decided to
make a mix match post of the random things I've collected over the past couple weeks.
 中秋節快樂!
I hope everyone was able to get their Mooncakes!
I so badly wanted to find a chocolate version but flavors were limited.
I opted for walnut and date.
I SO miss the pretty choices they had in Shanghai!
The way I incorporate color in my apartment is primarily with
flowers, fruit, and plants.
I scored the large white asian style case for $4 from a flea market and the little owl vase from Anthropologie.

I spied this little porcelain bunny figurine at a local
flea market a couple weeks ago.
He was made in Japan and probably dates back to the 1920's.
Lucky because it's the year of the Rabbit and totally reminded me of Bao, though his ears aren't lopped.
Some new Succulents add some life and permanent "color" to my living room, and a new flea market find: a pretty milk glass
canister to hold loose change.
To cure my sweet tooth, I've been adding a pinch of rainbow
sprinkles to my Nespresso. I don't take sugar in my coffee, and
this doesn't give a sugary taste, just makes it slightly more
yummy and pretty....of course.
My first pair of Chanel studs.

RETAIL THERAPY

It's been a hectic week... and it's not even Wednesday!
I made a quick stop to one of my favorite malls today, and left with a few goodies that will spruce up my wardrobe from Zara and H&M...and thought I'd give MAC's Pink Swoon blusher a shot <3

ALEX'S SKINCARE

I receive so many requests to do an updated skincare routine.
Only recently have I really regained control of a solid regimen, so I figured now would be the prefect time.
I want to give you my honest opinion about the products without going into lengthy detail... I've been using the L'Occitane face wash and toner for a solid 6 months and have not noticed brighter skin, as it claims. I've just recently started using  Neutrogena day and night creams and cannot give you an accurate review yet. As for the L'Occitane fragrance, Missha BB Cream, Chanel Vitalumiere, Swedish Skin eye cream (though they are no longer in business and not to be confused with swedishskincare.com) and Nevia Anti Perspirant I can honestly say I am absolutely in love with them and use them everyday.
...
I hope this clears up any lingering questions!
What are your favorite skincare products, any recommendations?
