I never imagined owning a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk was in my future.
I've always lusted over the idea of incorporating one into my place but knew they were not only rare, but pricy. After years of occasionally spotting them at large flea markets but being discouraged by the price,
I pretty much put the idea of having one of my own out of my mind.

Lucky for me, my dad is an avid antique bottle collector and often participates in auctions around the country. He recently came across one back east who was auctioning the vintage trunk. The trunk was found while cleaning out the home of Oliver Wendell Holmes. After deciding on a price and only having to bid a tiny bit more, I won it via phone bidding!
Though I don't believe it was actually Holmes' trunk, because the painted initials are different, it is still a charming idea and story, nonetheless.
I love the way it beautifully stands out next to my Jonathan Adler sofa (which I found for a steal of a price, at a floor piece sale) and black hyde rug. Im going to have to be extremely careful, with drink spills etc, until I find a piece of glass (maybe) for the top. Thank you for helping me locate it daddy!
Yes, that is an elliptical machine behind my couch, front and center!
I strategically placed it near in my office area/ living room and facing the TV, so there is no excuse for me not to work out everyday (well most days)!
